Sixth seed Prajnesh Gunneswaran was battling the 192nd ranked Yosuke Watanuki of Japan for a berth in the main draw of the Australian Open tennis championship in Melbourne.

Prajnesh had accounted for Enrique Lopez Perez of Spain and Viktor Galovic of Croatia in the first two rounds without dropping a set.
